1. Initial Consultation
tools needed for a design brief

During my initial visit we would take a walk around your garden and discuss your garden design requirements. This will form the basis of the design brief to determine the concept and style of your garden.

At this stage I will prepare a fee proposal for the design work.

2. Design Brief

This stage of the process is to establish your style and preferences.

Each and every garden is unique and a full design brief is required to make your garden unique to you.

3. Survey & Site Analysis

At this part of the process I record all factual elements of the site to complete a scale plan and analyse the more subjective elements such as aspect and the relationship with the surrounding area.

4. Outline Plan

This is my design proposal based on the design brief and site analysis. It comes as a scaled drawing with added visuals as required to help you imagine the finished garden.

The proposed plan is subject to your approval and minor amendments within the scope of the brief can be made at this stage.

5. Masterplan
Masterplan for garden

When a scheme has been agreed upon, I will draw up an accurate and detailed master plan. This includes setting out plans, construction drawings and specification documents on which a landscape contractor can base their costings. If the landscape contract goes out to tender, I will be happy to manage the tender process.

6. Construction

Once the build is underway, I offer a project inspection service.

I will regularly visit the site to ensure the project is running to schedule and ensure that any amendments are clearly documented.

7. Planting Plans

Detailed planting plans and a plant schedule are prepared as required. I source plants from specialist nurseries.

A maintenance schedule can be prepared on the future care and maintenance of plants provided.

8. Finishing Touches
finishing touches

An understated part of the design process. I can source the finishing touches to your garden, from furniture to pots.

Perhaps something more bespoke, a sculpture or proposed water feature, in which case I can liaise with the manufacturer or artist on your behalf.

9. Your Garden Grows

Your garden will continue to develop and evolve, I can visit to review your garden periodically and advise on remedial or development work as required.
